Houston has long been a destination for golf enthusiasts, but the Aramco Houston Championship elevated the city’s reputation last week as part of the PIF Global Series on the Ladies European Tour. Making its Texas debut, the tournament delivered world-class competition, a record-setting prize purse, and community initiatives that showcased Houston’s unique ability to host international events at the highest level.
World-Class Competition at Golfcrest Country Club
The prestigious Golfcrest Country Club welcomed 106 professionals and 26 teams to the course, offering fans the chance to see some of the brightest names in women’s golf. The field featured standouts such as Danielle Kang, Alison Lee, Mimi Rhodes, and Charley Hull, all competing for a piece of the expanded purse.
From September 5–7, spectators witnessed three days of precision shot-making and strategic play. Ultimately, it was Nuria Iturrioz who claimed victory, edging out Houston crowd favorite Charley Hull, who made an inspiring return from injury to card a final-round 67 and secure a tie for second place.
Charley Hull’s Impressive Comeback
Hull’s performance was one of the biggest stories of the weekend. Playing her first event back from injury, she impressed with consistency, confidence, and a dazzling final round. Hull reflected afterward:
“I played A1 golf all day, I played really well, and I hit some nice shots coming in.”
Her resilience and skill left fans excited for her 2025 season and demonstrated why she remains one of the sport’s most dynamic players.
More Than a Tournament – A Community Celebration
Beyond the competition, the Aramco Houston Championship embraced Houston’s community spirit. Local youth programs were spotlighted throughout the week, with opportunities for young golfers to interact with professionals and learn firsthand what it takes to compete at the global level.
This commitment to youth development aligned with Houston’s broader mission of growing the game, ensuring the event was not just about trophies but also about inspiring the next generation.

Houston’s Place on the Global Golf Map
While the PIF Global Series now moves on to its next international stop, Houston made a lasting impression. The Aramco Houston Championship proved that Texas can host world-class women’s golf while celebrating diversity, resilience, and community impact. For Houston sports fans, this tournament was more than a championship—it was a statement that the city is ready for more global showcases in the years ahead.
