ROSENBERG, TX – October 26, 2025 – College basketball fans packed the Fort Bend EpiCenter for The Preview College Basketball Exhibition, a first-of-its-kind preseason showcase presented by United Sports & Entertainment (@USportsEnt). The double-header lived up to the hype as the Houston Cougars took down the Mississippi State Bulldogs 61-52, and the Texas A&M Aggies outlasted the Arizona State Sun Devils 95-88.
Freshmen Power Houston to Victory
The Houston Cougars leaned on their talented 2025 recruiting class to secure a nine-point win in their preseason debut. Houston’s freshmen made an immediate impact — bringing energy, tempo, and defense that defined the matchup.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the Cougars’ newcomers showed why the class has been touted as one of the program’s best in years. Quick rotations, active rebounding, and a fearless shooting display helped Houston overcome a physical Mississippi State team.
Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson emphasized post-game that this year’s group “already plays like veterans” — a statement that bodes well as the Cougars prepare for another Big 12 campaign.
Texas A&M Tops Arizona State in Offensive Showcase
In the opening game, Texas A&M and Arizona State traded baskets until late in the second half, when Aggie forward Zach Clemence took over. Clemence scored 20 points, including five threes, and fueled a 12-2 run that pushed A&M ahead 78-71.
Arizona State rallied briefly, but the Aggies’ depth proved decisive. Ali Dibba’s three-point play and another clutch Clemence triple sealed the 95-88 victory.
Rylan Griffen added 16 points (10 in the first half), Rashaun Agee contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds, while Josh Holloway tallied 9 assists. A&M dominated the boards (44-34) and shot 13-of-29 from three-point range.
A Texas-Sized Celebration of Hoops and Community
The Preview not only delivered elite basketball but also introduced a charitable initiative encouraging student-athletes to use their platform for positive impact in local communities. The event united programs from the Big 12 and SEC, highlighting the depth of basketball talent across Texas.
For Houston and Texas A&M fans, it offered a glimpse of what’s to come this season — intensity, youth, and a drive to compete on the national stage.
