Viva Houston is back in the action this weekend as Houston Dynamo FC return to Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, June 14, to face CF Montréal at 7:30 p.m. CT. This marks the first meeting between the two sides since 2023, with Houston aiming to bounce back and extend its strong home form against the Eastern Conference opponent.
The Dynamo closed out May with nine matches across all competitions, notching three clean-sheet victories, 17 total goals, and 10 points in MLS league play. Leading the offensive charge is Ezequiel Ponce, who has six goals across all competitions, supported by Griffin Dorsey and Jack McGlynn, who have combined for 11 assists this season.
After a 3-1 defeat to Sporting Kansas City on May 31, the team looks to rebound with key players returning. Sebastian Kowalczyk scored his first goal of the season in that match, and Lawrence Ennali made his long-awaited return from injury. Midfielder Duane Holmes also made his home debut in Houston colors.
International duty has kept the roster dynamic. Brooklyn Raines recently returned from the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team camp in Egypt, while Jack McGlynn was called up to the senior USMNT, where he scored in a friendly against Turkey and is now on the 26-man roster for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.
CF Montréal enters Saturday’s fixture at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 1-11-5 record and most recently suffered a 3-0 defeat to New England. Despite the team’s struggles, Prince Owusu has been a bright spot with four goals and two assists in regular season play
Saturday’s showdown is more than just a match—it’s also Fan Appreciation Night. Following the MLS fixture, fans are invited to stay and watch the Battle of the Badges, where members of the Houston Police Department (HPD) face off against the Houston Fire Department (HFD) in a post-match exhibition game.
Houston is currently 7-1-1 all-time at home against Montréal and looks to tie the overall series at eight wins apiece. Their last encounter was a 1-1 draw on October 4, 2023, with Artur scoring the lone goal for the Dynamo.
Next up, Houston will travel to face Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, June 25, with streaming available via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
