Pachuca opened the scoring in the 24th minute. A left-side counter led to a shot by Alexei Domínguez. Jonathan Bond made the initial save, but the rebound deflected off Felipe Andrade and landed in front of Luis Quiñones, who scored to make it 1-0.
Despite a strong atmosphere at Shell Energy Stadium, Houston Dynamo couldn’t capitalize before halftime.
Bassi Equalizes Before Pachuca Strikes Again
In the second half, Lawrence Ennali entered the match and immediately changed the pace. His attacks on the left created pressure and forced several corners. In the 82nd minute, Toyosi Olusanya was fouled in the box, and Amine Bassi converted the penalty to tie it 1-1.
Just three minutes later, Gastón Togni responded. He dribbled inside from the left wing and placed a low shot off the far post and in. That goal gave Pachuca a 2-1 lead that held until the final whistle.

Although Houston Dynamo vs Pachuca ended in disappointment, the club returns to MLS play on Saturday, August 9, against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 PM CT and can be streamed via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
