Raul Marquez Boxing Commentary Returns for Top Rank Event on ESPN+

Houston boxing icon and fan-favorite analyst Raul “El Diamante” Marquez is back behind the microphone this Saturday night as he joins Top Rank’s ringside commentary team for an exciting fight night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Marquez will be joined by former world champion and sharp-tongued analyst Paulie Malignaggi and accomplished ringside host Crystina Poncher to deliver blow-by-blow coverage and in-depth analysis for the ESPN+ broadcast.

The main attraction, local favorite Vito Mielnicki Jr., looks to continue his rise up the welterweight ranks as he faces undefeated Polish contender Kamil Gardzielik. Mielnicki, known for his fan-friendly style and power, hopes to make a statement in front of his home crowd and set up a future world title opportunity.

Speaking ahead of the event, Marquez shared his enthusiasm for the matchup:

“This is the kind of fight that shows if a young prospect is ready for the big stage. Vito has the skills and power, but Gardzielik’s experience makes him a live dog. I’m excited to break it all down for the fans.”

In addition to the headline bout, the stacked undercard features promising talents and regional favorites, promising an electric atmosphere inside the Prudential Center.

Fans can catch every round live on ESPN+, with coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET. For Houston fight fans and followers of “El Diamante,” it’s another chance to hear one of boxing’s sharpest minds bring the sweet science to life.

In his most interview, boxing legend Raul Marquez shares his thoughts on upcoming fights and gives a bold prediction for the highly anticipated Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford matchup. Marquez talks about covering the Vito Mielnicki Jr. fight card and offers advice for Vito’s title hopes. He then discusses Crawford’s surprising strength and experience sparring bigger fighters, warning that Canelo may be caught off guard by Crawford’s reach, ring IQ, and slick movement. Raul predicts that Crawford will frustrate Canelo, “tattoo him,” and win by a close or unanimous decision if he sticks to his smart game plan. He also gives a shoutout to his son, rising prospect Jovanni Marquez (13–0, 6 KOs).
